Store a lot of important information

2.5 Some difficulties may be encountered when changing to a chip-mounted CCCD

Some papers have to be updated/modified

The current chip mounted CCCD uses a uniform 12 digits. Therefore, one of the most common problems for 9-digit ID card users when changing to CCCD chip is that people’s card numbers will change.

People can use the Certificate of Identity Card or scan the QR code on the CCCD card with a chip to prove their identity when carrying out administrative procedures. However, for convenience in future procedures, people need to update/modify a number of papers such as:

– Bank account infomation

– Passport

– Social insurance book

– Red book…

The QR code may not contain the old ID number

In fact, there are still a few cases where people do not have information about the old 9-digit ID card when scanning the QR code on the chip-mounted CCCD. The reason may be due to an error when collecting information when issuing CCCD, so this information is not available in the Population Database.

If unfortunately in the above case, people can use the certificate of ID number when needed or directly contact the police where the procedure for issuing CCCD with chip has been carried out to supplement and update information.

3. In which case it is mandatory to change the ID card to CCCD with chip?

For people who are using ID cards, Pursuant to Article 5 of Decree 05/1999, there are 06 cases where it is compulsory to change to CCCD with chip:

– ID card expires;

– Damaged ID card cannot be used;

– Citizens change their last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, month and year;

– Citizens who change their place of permanent residence registration outside of a province or centrally run city;

– Citizens change their identity;

– Lost ID card in use.

Thus, the valid ID card can still be used, but for the convenience of the individual later, as well as in all social activities, work, personal information license. Then we should change to CCCD with chip.
The future chip-based CCCD will greatly reduce people’s time to provide identification.

Hopefully with the sharing of MVA Vietnam above, it will help customers understand better and make suitable choices for themselves in the near future.
